History
Team SoloMid was founded in 2009 as mainly a League of Legends team that included the CEO Andy “Reginald” Dunh, a division where they have thoroughly dominated and has won seven North America’s League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) – an S-Tier competition.
The organization officially expanded in 2011 and actively began recruiting players to join other divisions under its banner.
In 2015, TSM acquired the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster of teams.
The signed players were given bumper contracts and were considered the highest-paid players in the CS: GO gaming division.
Also, in 2015, TSM signed ZeRo in their Super Smash Bros., who then won 56 tournaments in a row – a feat that saw an entry into the Guinness World Records, a record that is unbroken to this day.
In the next couple of years, the team expanded its presence in Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, and other eSports scenes.
TSM also signed Chess Grandmaster (GM) Hikaru Nakamura, former world No. 2 player, and 5-times US Chess Champion, following the Chess eSports boom. Hikaru was only the second-ever chess player to be signed by a professional eSports organization.
We adopted the team name TSM FTX after Team SoloMid signed a 10-year naming rights deal reportedly worth around $210 million with cryptocurrency exchange FTX. At the end of 2021, TSM was valued at $540 million.
