ShahZaM grew up playing on multiple consoles, including a Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega, and PlayStations. He transitioned to PC when Halo came out. He was introduced to Counter-Strike: Source in late 2004 when he received a free copy of the game with his purchase of Half-Life 2. He and his brother got really into it and often played against bots together.
Professional Career
ShahZaM started playing in Counter-Strike tournaments during CAL S10. His desire to be the best in the game gained recognition from the community, especially when his team, Denial, started performing well.
Cloud 9 offered him his first position shortly after he graduated. It was risky, as the competition scene was still developing and would have left him little time to do anything else he wanted. He approached his parents about the opportunity and was surprised that they were supportive of it, and therefore he decided to focus all his energy on his esports career.
He has competed for multiple organizations, like Optic Gaming in 2015 and Echo Fox in 2016. He joined Misfits Gaming in 2017 before returning to Optic Gaming the following year. However, his affiliation with them didn’t last long. In May of that year, he moved to compLexity. He stayed there until April 2020, when he transitioned to Sentinels.
