History
OpTic Gaming was established in 2006, but it waited to make its presence felt in the competitive scene until 2010 with its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare roster.
That team was hugely successful, with multiple awards and tournaments. A book written by the members of that first team with the help of eSports commentator Ryan Wyatt, titled OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports champions, is available for purchase.
The book, released in 2016, immediately became a New York Times best-seller, and its TV and film rights were acquired.
The organization became part of Infinite Esports & Entertainment, a holding company, in 2017. Infinite Esports & Entertainment was acquired by Immoral Gaming Club (IGC) in June 2019.
Hector Rodriguez reacquired the team in November 2020 and was again at the head of the organization. OpTic Gaming and Envy Gaming merged in November 2021. Envy Gaming brand retires in July 2022.
